An exceptional reaction to dothiepin (prothiaden).

Dothiepin (prothiaden) is a tricyclic antidepressant related to amitryptylline. Pharma¬ cologically each 25 mg dose is the equivalent to 22-2 mg of 11.(3 dimethylamino propylidene) 6-11.dehydrodibenythiepin. While used for some ten years in Europe, many of the reports are Austro-CzechovakiaPolish in origin, it is still relatively new in this country. The formulation makes its anti¬ depressant potential obvious. It has however, two further attributes of rapid onset and of anxiolysis. Side-effects.while similar to the tricyclics in general.are usually mild and transient; increased dosage above the usual 25 mg thrice daily being the usual culprit. Contra-indications
